Rehabilitation of Manholes for Block Valves at the Semizovac – Zenica Gas Pipeline

When designing the Semizovac – Zenica gas pipeline, constructed in 1983, the competent military authorities ordered – for security reasons -  that all block valves must be installed under the level of the surrounding terrain, namely in manholes.

Experience has demonstrated a lot of disadvantages of this way of construction, like rapid wearing of equipment and difficult handling and maintenance.

This was especially obvious at the location of Misoca, Podlugovi and Porjecani where underground water broke into the manholes.

As this equipment is of vital importance to safe transmission of natural gas, rehabilitation of the manholes at the mentioned locations was planned and carried out.

The works were performed by VINDI-TIP d.o.o. of Sarajevo and completed in November 2006.
