The Project is aimed at expanding natural gas market and providing a new point of entry for natural gas. In addition, interconnection of the gas systems of two countries would increase security of supply with this energy form. Construction of this gas pipeline would be the third connection in the western part of B&H to the transmission system of the Republic of Croatia. This point of entry is at the same the closest connection to the planned LNG-terminal on the Island of Krk.

The Project of gasification of Una - Sana Canton foresees introducing natural gas in all consumption sectors of this region. As the point of entry of natural gas from Croatia has been planned, there is a possibility in the future to connect the gas systems of Bosnia and the Republic of Croatia. Gasification of the cities in vicinity of the planned point of entry at Tr. Raštela or Šturlić has been foreseen in Phase I while gasification of other big cities of this region would be continued in Phase II.

Phase II:            43 million EURO

Total:                 73 million EURO

Note: The total investments include a metering station at the point of entry as well as metering and regulating stations for the cities of Bihać, Velika Kladuša, Cazin, Bos. Krupa, Sanski Most, Ključ and Bos. Petrovac.

The introduction of natural gas as a new energy form would create the conditions for further market expansion. Stress is placed on exploring the possibilities of applying new technologies (combined heat and power (CHP) generation) and on natural gas applications (for cooling, hot-water preparation, natural gas in transportation applications) in order to reach the consumption of annual volumes as evenly as possible.
