Competitiveness of Natural Gas as a Form of Energy

The energy users including the industrial sector are nowadays requested to take care primarily of the following: to reduce significantly the emission of pollutants and, at the same time, to reduce energy consumption.

There are many possibilities to increase the competitiveness of every process of production. All these possibilities are based on as high as possible energy efficiency, which is achieved by reducing specific energy consumption.

The use of comparative advantages of natural gas offers further possibilities to increase competitiveness of natural gas, either by using it as a primary form of energy or finding new fields of application in processes of production.

The most important comparative advantages of natural gas are the following:

- Use of primary energy without any additional transformation;
- Possibility to achieve high efficiency (
h) by using small power;
- Availability at a place of consumption;
- Possibility to regulate it easily and adjust its power to current needs;
- Possibility to combine natural gas with other forms of energy;
- Reduction in losses in process of production and energy transfer;
- Direct influence of natural gas on the quality of products in certain
  processes of production;
- Increase in cleanliness of air and decrease in emission of CO2 into
  atmosphere.
