Development StrategyOur
development strategy is based on the following advantages of natural gas in comparison
with other competing fuels: natural gas is an environmentally clean fuel, it can be used
as primary energy and it is a fuel with the highest energy efficiency.
Development Projects
Doubtlessly, long-term security of natural gas supply can be guaranteed by an efficient interconnection network and by establishing integrated regional market for natural gas, particularly in the countries having not their own sources of this energy form. Bosnia & Herzegovina would be able to provide these conditions only if the development projects have been realized, the skeleton of which is formed by the priority transmission gas pipelines:
- Zenica – Bosanski Brod
- Sarajevo – Mostar – Ploče
Realization of these two transmission gas pipelines would be the basis for expanding natural gas market in both Entities of B&H as well as in Brčko District. The following Cantons in the Federation of B&H would be involved: Middle-Bosnian Canton (Zenica – Travnik – Gornji Vakuf gas pipeline and Travnik – Jajce gas pipeline), Una-Sana Canton (Velika Kladuša – Cazin – Bihać – Bosanska Krupa gas pipeline) with a perspective on connecting these two areas by Jajce – Bosanska Krupa gas pipeline in a new interconnection gas pipeline. Tuzla Canton would be included through Kladanj – Tuzla – Doboj gas pipeline and Tuzla – Brčko gas pipeline respectively. Gasification of the areas in Hercegovina-Neretva Canton and in neighboring Cantons can be carried out during the construction phases of Ploče – Mostar gas pipeline and Mostar – Jablanica – Konjic – Sarajevo pipeline respectively. Should the economic feasibility criteria for gasification of other areas in the Federation of B&H be satisfied, technical possibilities of these priority gas pipelines shall be chosen to cover in the long run these future natural gas market.
